SGPC opposes e-auction of Golden temple model gifted to PM Modi, says it’s a symbol of devotion

Punjab desk: Sikh Body Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has opposed the move of e-auction of model of Golden temple gifted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. SGPC has urged that instead of auctioning, the model of Golden temple could be placed in the PM’s residence as it is not mere a model but symbol of devotion associated with sentiments of thousands of Sikhs.

As per the Union Ministry of State for Culture and External Affairs, PM Mementos or gifts received by PM Modi would be e-auctioned till October 31. The funds generated through auction are later used for public welfare schemes.

SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami took to X and expressed his disagreement with the auction of Model of Golden temple.

He said, “The model of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahab should not be auctioned in the auction of honours and gifts received by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This is not an ordinary gift but a symbol of devotion and respect. I appeal to the Prime Minister to keep the model of Sri Harmandir Sahib at his residence.”
