 CM Mann targets opposition on SYL; challenges for open debate on Nov 1

Chandigarh: Ever since the order of supreme court, issue of SYL has heated the politics of Punjab. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann targeted leaders of opposition parties over SYL issue. Through his post on X, he took a jab at BJP state president Sunil Jakhar, SAD President Sukhbir Badal, PPCC Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and congress leader of opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa.

In a post on X, he hit them if they (Opposition leaders) had any shame or not in raising the issue of SYL when Devi lal, former CM of Haryana praised Prakash Singh Badal for allowing the survey for construction of SYL. He also said that Balram Jakhar, father of Sunil Jakhar along with former CM captain Amarinder Singh was also seen in the picture taken during foundation laying stone of SYL Canal.

He added that as a child he used to watch over the water channels in his village, and even today, he had been assigned the duty to protect the Sutlej. He even challenged opposition leaders for an open debate On November 1, which marks as Punjab Day. He said that they should come prepared to tell how their forefathers sacrificed Punjab.

As per reports, the Punjab government has already booked Tagore Theatre in Chandigarh   for the debate on November 1.
