Big action to end drug menace in state; Punjab Govt to start ‘Hope Initiative’

Punjab Desk: With a commitment to create a ‘drug-free Punjab’ by August 15, 2024, the administration has entrusted the Amritsar police with a critical initiative called ‘The Hope Initiative’. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will start ‘The Hope Initiative’ tomorrow in Amritsar. The mission pledges to eradicate drugs by Independence Day of 2024. Under this initiative, Amritsar Police will launch various activities so as to engage and carter youth in a positive direction.

Tomorrow Punjab CM will reach Shri Harimandir Sahib and along with 35,000 children of the state he will offer Ardas to make Punjab a drug free state. The Hope Initiative revolves around 3Ps namely; Pray, Pledge and Play. Youth will be taken to Golden temple for seeking prayers, youth will be made to pledge against drugs by remembering the sacrifices of brave warriors like Shaheed Bhagat Singh and lastly youth will be engaged in sports activities such as cricket to realise the play aspect.

The Hope initiative will run for about 1 month and will end before Diwali. Through Hope initiative, NGOs and social communities will come together and will fight against the menace of drugs in state.
