Vigilance Bureau nabs health worker for taking bribe of Rs 50,000

Punjab desk:  During the anti-corruption drive, Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Sanjeev Singh, resident of village Barke, who was posted as a field worker in Civil Hospital Mamdot in Firozpur district, on charges of taking a bribe of Rs 50,000.

Giving information in this regard, Vigilance Bureau spokesperson said that the said employee has been arrested on the complaint of Jagdish Singh, resident of village Mallwal Kadim, district Firozpur, who had lodged a complaint in this regard on the Chief Minister Anti-Corruption Action Line.

Giving more details, he said that the said complainant alleged in his complaint that the said health worker had taken Rs 50,000 in return for helping him in getting the Medico-Legal Report (MLR) issued against him re-examined by the special board of doctors. Since the said accused was continuously making false promises in this regard, the complainant recorded the conversation with the said employee regarding payment of bribe amount, which was presented to the Vigilance Bureau as evidence.

In this regard, a case has been registered under the Anti-Corruption Act against the accused employee in the Ferozepur range of the Vigilance Bureau. He said that further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
