Chandigarh: Many roads will be closed during Dussehra programs in Chandigarh city. Chandigarh Police has issued an advisory for this. In the advisory, common people have been advised not to come on those routes during this period. These roads will remain closed from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
Due to Dussehra program being held in Sector 17 Parade Ground, traffic will be diverted on the roads coming in this direction from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. During this, traffic will be diverted for one hour at Sector 17 and 18 light points on ISBT Sector 17 Chowk Udyog Path, Aroma Light Point of Sector 22 and Sectors 18, 19, 20, 21 Chowk and Cricket Stadium Chowk.
Traffic will also remain closed towards Sector 34. According to the advisory of Chandigarh Police, the road from Sector 34-35 Light Point will remain closed on furniture market mode from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. The festival of Dussehra will be celebrated here in the ground opposite to Gurudwara Sahib. This road will remain closed for one and a half hours after the effigies of Ravana are burnt.
Similarly, the road leading from Sector 45-46 light point towards Sector-46 will also remain closed. As per advisory people can park their vehicles in the following parking lots allotted by Traffic police administration. Parking lots where people can park their vehicle includes, Parking area of sector 22-A Market, Parking area of Sector 22-B Market, Parking of Football Ground, Sector 17, Rear side and front side of Neelam Cinema Sector 17 and Parking area adjoining Local Bus Stand, Sector 17.
Police has appealed general public to walk to nearby markets, nearby destinations, etc. rather than using a motor vehicle. Police has also urged to consider car pooling if possible.
